The dampness invaded her consciousness, its chill pulling her from pleasant thoughts. Puzzled, she looked around, taking in the changes to her surroundings.

When did it become so foggy? While thin, the fog’s misty fingers were strong enough to penetrate her clothes, causing a slight shiver to tremble through her. Attempting to recapture some of the warmth that had fled in the mist’s presence, she wrapped her arms tightly around her body as she continued to survey her location.

The Last Straw

I was already in a foul mood when the telephone rang. Grumbling under my breath, I searched for, and finally located, the phone, only able to answer it after six annoying rings. My “hello” was none too friendly, but that didn’t seem to dampen the enthusiasm of the person at the other end of the line.

The Best Shield

“Pillow fight!” yelled Kathy.

She and her friend Jane, who was spending the night, were getting ready for bed, but Kathy thought a pillow fight sounded like more fun. Jane grabbed a pillow and swung it at Kathy who blocked the attack with her pillow. Soon the girls were laughing very hard as they tried their best to hit each other with the pillows.
