Fun Christian Songs for Toddlers – Thank You, Father, for Making Me

music

Fun Christian songs for toddlers are always in demand for use in Sunday School, VBS, and Children’s Church. Here’s an original song which could also be used as a poem.

Thank You, Father, for Making Me

1. God made the mountains tall, and God made the trees.
God made the leaves that fall, and He made the seas.
All creatures large and small – Elephants and bees -
Aren’t you glad that God made them all?

I Hate Fleas

I hate fleas, but fleas love me.
They gnaw and they chew like I’m some kind of treat.
It seems they think I’m most delicious to eat.
I hate fleas, but fleas love me!

I Love You

one verse for each member of my beloved family

Squeals and giggles
Dimples and coos -
Baby, darling, I love you.

Legos and planes
Helicopters, too, -
Sweet golden boy, I love you.

Solitary

I built a fortress, tall and strong -
Built it deep and built it long.
Built it so that I’d be free
From threats against my deepest me.

Bit by bit the walls grew high
Until they nearly reached the sky,
Sheltering, protecting, shutting out
Tears within and fears without.

American Hero

A cap, a flag, a medal, too,
And an empty place at home.
He gave his life for me and you,
Defending his native loam.

In time of peace and time of war
He pledged us his very best.
Our nation’s colors he proudly bore
On his shoulder or his chest.

Despair

Silence
But not peaceful
Resentful
Angry

Unspoken thoughts
Words not yelled
Or uttered at all

Loneliness
Nowhere to turn
No one who cares

Pressure
Building and mounting
About to explode

Questioning
My own existence
To continue or not

Pain and Relief

Mid-month Every Month at PENSIEVE

This poem was written for Pensieve‘s Poetic License. The poetic form given was Diamante, an Italian form which consists of seven lines and forms a diamond shape when complete.

subject
two adjectives describing the subject
three words ending in “ing” telling about the subject
four words, first two describe subject, last two describe opposite
three words ending in “ing” telling about the opposite
two adjectives describing the opposite
opposite

Robin gave us two possible theme choices: the great outdoors or emotions. My diamante was inspired by end-of-pregnancy/labor/post-birth feelings. (Considering this was written just 17 days before the birth of my first son, I was writing from my personal experience.)
